When times are tough, it hits everyone. Businesses both big and small feel the pressure to keep sales up, products and services flowing, and, most importantly, customers happy. Maintaining customer satisfaction can be accomplished in many ways to include fair prices and great service.
Having prices that are fair means that you make an honest profit that will help the company stay in business and that the customer gets what he or she wants for a price that matches the quality of what is purchased. A can of coke would be too expensive at three pounds and an organic fruit smoothie would be too cheap at the same price.
Customers know that businesses need to make money to stay afloat, but they do not want to feel bilked on any product or service they buy, which is why satisfying them with great service is so important.
Service comes in many forms. It can include a free snack to anyone who patronizes one’s food shop ten times, or it can be a news stand owner who begins to carry a certain paper or magazine at the request of a new customer. One form of customer service that is often overlooked is community service.
Businesses, and business people, who show they care about the community through sponsoring events, local sports programs, or the police and fire service make a statement through such actions that speak more clearly than most things that can be done in one’s shop or office.
Customers and clients need to know that they are cared for, even if it is just at a local level. A person who buys a cup of coffee at a shop each day spends hundreds or more over the course of a year. He can take his money anywhere, and if he is not taken care of, he will.
